Important Update #12: Blastocyst transfer gives better pregnancy rates than day 3 embryo transfer.

Embryos are cultured in the IVF lab for 3 to 5 days. Previously all IVF centers in the world transferred embryos on day 3 when the embryo has 8 cells. When cultured till day 5 fewer embryos become blastocysts, and these are the ones which have higher implantation potential. Implantation rates of day 3 embryos is 30 percent while for day 5 blastocysts implantation rate is 50%.on day 5 lesser embryos are transferred, so chances of high order multiple pregnancies is reduced.
So all going in for an IVF cycle ,go for a blastocyst transfer!
