MOST COMMON QUESTIONS ASKED BY IVF PATIENTS
1.
Can any
couple suffer from infertility conceive??
Yes, with
the advance in technology every couple will conceive. Irrespective of their age
and the problem that have caused their infertility. Even post menopausal women
can conceive. Women having PCOD, endometriosis, irregular menses, tubal block,
fibroids, adhesions, polyps, no menses at all, heavy bleeding during menses all
will conceive with proper guidance and treatment. Even couples who are
challenged with male factor infertility like low sperm count, low sperm motility,
abnormal form of sperms, no sperm seen in semen, etc. will have a complete
family if given proper treatment and guidance regarding the technique that has
to be used.
2.
How much
time will a couple take to conceive once the treatment has started??
Generally,
any couple should conceive within 3 to 5 months of treatment. If that has not
happened then the patient either needs to change their treatment plan or do
advanced investigations or advanced treatments or take a second opinion from an
infertility expert.
3.
What is the
concept of failure analysis??
If a couple
has been given a specific treatment and has yet not conceived, they need to do
a failure analysis, i.e. analyze if there is some issue in the treatment
protocol or if some minute details are missed from the patient files or we need
to change her treatment plan completely. Failure analysis is finding out why
this patient isn’t conceiving in spite of taking treatment. There are certain
factors that determine IVF success and we need to see if all these factors were
taken care of while that patient was treated for infertility. With the speed in
which reproductive medicine is growing, and research is being done all over the
world, there is no patient who will not conceive.
4.
What are
the various treatment options for a couple??
In a broad view, infertility treatments can be divided
into 2 parts:
1. In VIVO
fertilization (fusion of sperm and oocyte happens in the body)
-
Planned
relation: Advising a couple to keep planed relations when the follicle
ruptures simple based on cycle dates & ovulation kit.
-
Follicular
study: Follicular study is the monitoring of the follicular growth
over the ultrasound and deciding the dates for planned relations post rupture
of the follicles. Along with the follicular growth, the endometrial thickness
is measured.
-
Follicular
study with IUI: Follicular growth is monitored, followed by intra
uterine insemination. i.e husband semen sample is washed and washed sperms are
them inseminated in the uterus near the tube openings.
2. IN – VITRO
FERTILIZATION:
This means fertilization occurs outside the human body. In
this case the oocytes from the female partner and the sperms from the male are
processed outside the body, in an embryology lab. There are different
techniques of fertilizing the sperm and ova. Based on the couples reason of
infertility. The success rate of In-Vitro fertilization treatments is much
higher than in vivo fertilization in sub fertile or infertile patients.
5.
How do
these techniques help in achieving pregnancy??
Let’s take
the example of a couple having male factor infertility and husband has all dead
sperms (this means that the patient has all sperms that are non-motile) in such
case, a lab technique called ICSI is used, where the sperm is lifted with a pipette
and injected in the oocyte. This embryo is formed, which is then placed in the
uterus and the couple will conceive. There are various techniques in an
embryology lab that can help couples conceive , and deliver a healthy baby.
6.
What is the
motto of JIVF ??
Jilla’s IVF believes that there is a reason behind
every infertile case and we will find that reason treat is and there no couple that
will remain childless.
7.
How do we
choose the best doctor for treatment??
A lot of patients ask me, how do we
choose the best doctor for IVF , “ I always reply don’t choose a good doctor,
choose a good lab”. It is an embryology
or an andrology lab that will process the embryos for IVF and semen for IUI.
Couples should be confident of the lab and one way to know about a lab is by
knowing their success rate. Knowing how many patients were treated an how many
have conceived.
Talking to their patients, confident labs will
generally have their patient testimonials and their phone numbers. Patients can
also get an idea of how their file is being studied. I also believe that it is
very important for patients to ask why have I not conceived yet. ? How is this
treatment different than the one I have taken?
any treatment regarding hair transplant then Hair Transplant Punjab
